Over the years the Mercedes Benz E-class has remained very relevant despite the production of many other model names on the Mercedes Benz line. The E class has also seen a whole lot of improvement both in design and performance of which the latest is the E53 AMG. The new E class comes in two trims; the coupe and the cabriolet but a wagon model will also be added soon. When it comes to design, the new E53 has seen significant changes from the outgoing E43. There is the presence of a twin-blade radiator grille which was formally seen on high-end V8 models, the side will panel which is specific to AMG, An A-wing design front apron and a front splitter in silver chrome coating.
When you view the new E53 from behind, you will notice a few changes also. From the redesigned rear apron to the round twin tailpipe in gloss chrome finish. The spoiler on the trunk cover is well defined and blends seamlessly with the rest of the body to give off that sporty look that AMG is known for.
The new E 53 also comes with a host of standard and optional driver assist features. The standard features include; ATTENTION ASSIST, PRE-SAFE occupant protection system including PRE-SAFE® Sound. While the optional features include; Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Braking Assist with Cross-Traffic Function, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, PRE-SAFE PLUS.
When you step into the interior of the new E53 AMG, a blend of quality and luxurious materials await you. Added to this, you also get top-notch innovative control and display, two 12.3inch screens placed diagonally as seen in the Latest S-class and an optional widescreen cockpit with virtual instrument panel.
The steering wheel has touch-sensitive Touch Control buttons that respond to swiping movements. They make it possible for the driver to control the entire infotainment system without having to let go of the steering wheel for even a second. The infotainment system can also be operated through the touchpad controller embedded in the center console and also by LINGUATRONIC voice control.
The Voice control has also been extended to include vehicle functions. Now the air conditioning and seat heating/ventilation, interior lights and the optional head-up display can also be controlled by voice commands.
Engine and Transmission
The new E53 AMG is powered by a new electrified 3.0-liter engine that produces 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Coupled with a 48-volt electrical system augmenting the car´s mechanics, an additional 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque are also available through its EQ Boost starter-alternator. So you get an engine that delivers bracing power while maintaining superb fuel economy and stability.
